Gobindgarh Fort in Amritsar





Gobindgarh Fort is a historic fort located in the center of the city of Amritsar in the Indian state of Punjab. The Fort was earlier occupied by the army but is now open to the public from 10th February 2017.Today the fort is being developed as a unique live museum, as a repository of Punjab’s history.



Ram Bagh Palace/ Summer Palace in Amritsar





Ram Bagh Palace, was the palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, founder of Sikh Empire in Punjab, India. It was used as summer palace by Ranjit Singh. The palace is situated in the center of a garden popularly known as Ram Bagh or Barandari. The whole Ram Bagh complex including Rambagh Palace is declared as protected monument vide Punjab Government.




Qila Mubarak in Bathinda





Qila Mubarak  is a historical monument in the heart of the city of Bathinda in Punjab, India. It has been in existence from 90-110 AD in its current place and is the oldest surviving fort in India. It was here that Razia Sultan, the first woman to take charge of the Delhi throne was incarcerated on her defeat and dethroned. The bricks of the fort date back to the Kushana period when emperor Kanishka ruled over Northern India/Bactria. Raja Dab, along with emperor Kanishka, is believed to have built the fort.


Sheesh Mahal in Patiala





Patiala is a city in southeastern Punjab, in northern India. It is the fourth largest city in the state and is the administrative capital of Patiala district. Patiala is located around the Qila Mubarak (the Fortunate Castle). It was constructed by chieftain 'Baba Ala Singh', who founded the royal dynasty of the Patiala State in 1763.
In popular culture, the city remains famous for its traditional PatialaShahi turban (a type of headgear), paranda (a tasselled tag for braiding hair), patiala salwar (a type of female trousers), jutti (a type of footwear) and Patiala peg (a measure of liquor).


Old Moti Bagh Palace in Patiala





Moti Bagh Palace is a palace in Patiala. The old quarters were built in the 1840s by the Maharaja of Patiala. It was expanded in 1920s under the supervision of Sir Ganga Ram during the reign of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh. After independence, the Government of India took over the premises, and later converted it into a museum, a taxidermy gallery, and the North Zone Cultural Centre.
The National Institute of Sports (NIS) Patiala is situated in its East wing, where the annual Patiala Heritage festival is celebrated. New Moti bagh is residence of Maharaja Patiala Captain Amarinder Singh.



Qila Anandgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib





Centrally located in Anandapur District of Punjab, Qila Anandgarh Sahib is a historical monument built by Guru Gobind Singh. It is one of the five Qilas which were built to protect the Sikhs from invaders. Qila Anandgarh Sahib is around 800 m south-east of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib and encloses a beautiful Gurudwara.
Qila Anandgarh Sahib along with other four prominent forts called Keshgarh, Lohgarh, Holgarh and Fatehgarh of Anandpur District makes a wonderful Sikh Tourist Circuit. All these forts are connected with underground passage.



Jagatjit Palace in Kapurthala





A strong and inseparable part of tourism in Punjab, Jagatjit Palace should be in your list of sightseeing tour without fail. Rightly called the ‘Paris of Punjab’, this popular heritage building is located in Kapurthala District of Punjab and magnificently designed taking inspiration from Versailles and Fontainebleau. The interior hall of the palace depicts a rich blend of Indian and French architectural style.
While the painted ceilings of the palace exhibit grandeur of French architectural beauty, the Darbar Hall entirely depicts the magnificence of Indian Decor. The palace was designed by a French architect in 1906 and today houses a vibrant museum where one can see the artefacts collected by the Maharaja from different European countries.
